Our profession has faced a multitude of advancements in the last 15 years and will continue to do so in the near future as technology becomes less expensive and bioengineering becomes more mainstream. If we are to survive as a specialty, we must embrace the opportunity to incorporate these major changes into our practices. You will not be progressive if you only make incremental refinements with brackets and wires or aligners. You must also become comfortable with digital, 3D diagnostics and treatment planning. And if that is not enough, the successful practice can never feel “too old” to incorporate new approaches to team cohesiveness and personal strengths, as well as community outreach through media marketing and search engine optimization. We must look at the big picture and build the whole package and continuously refine it, no matter what stage of our career!

Yoga & Guided Meditation
On Saturday morning, we are offering a 45-minute gentle yoga class followed by guided meditation.This class will be both invigorating and calming. There will be instruction and guidance through the poses as well as modifications. This class is suitable for all levels, including beginners.
The class will be given by Bryson Newell and Melissa Brandfass. Bryson has studied yoga and meditation in Tibetan monasteries throughout Asia. He also maintains the highest level of certification in the U.S. through the Yoga Alliance. Melissa is a practicing physical therapist as well a certified yoga instructor. They focus their study and teaching on the profound link between mind and body.
Meditation instruction will be in the Vipassana style. Vipassana literally means “insight.” This form of meditation is a very natural, simple way to calm one's mind and body. The health benefits of Vipassana include decreased stress and anger, emotional balance, and overall improvement of mental health. These benefits extend into one's personal and professional life.
